Diversity and Inclusion

At The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of who we are. Our commitment to these values is unwavering – across all of our work around the world. They are central to our mission and to our impact.

Together with our local partners, we continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices that make-up the Award family around the world. It fuels our innovation and connects us closer to the communities we serve.

We recognise that there is more work to be done. That’s why we have started a comprehensive diversity consultation process with our whole Award network to explore and agree on our shared values and develop a roadmap. This roadmap will serve as an aspirational strategic plan for deepening our commitment to diversity and improve equity and inclusion.

We gathered information about the diversity of the young people that take part in the Award across the countries we operate. This includes groups of young people that are at risk or marginalised.

April – June 2021

With support from external facilitators, we held 9 regional sessions to explore the definitions and challenges around diversity and inclusion in specific national contexts.
