Celebrating Award volunteers: Nesha Hutchinson

To mark International Youth Day, 100 Award volunteers from around the world are being recognised for their outstanding support to young people through The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

In recognition of the exceptional work, they will each receive a letter of commendation from HRH Prince Edward, Chairman of the International Award Foundation – and a special commemorative coin marking the life and legacy of our Founder, HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, produced by the Royal Mint in the UK.

Nesha is just one of those inspirational volunteers being recognised.

Nesha Hutchinson was ‘shocked and speechless’ to receive royal recognition for her volunteering as an Activity Assessor for Australia’s Duke of Edinburgh International Award.

A psychologist, the single mother to a pair of teenagers and the organiser of Sunday Street Feed for Sydney’s homeless, she has deservedly received a letter from HRH Prince Edward – HRH Prince Philip’s son and Chairman of the International Award Foundation – and a special commemorative coin marking the life and legacy of The Duke, produced by the Royal Mint in the UK.

Nesha achieved the Bronze Award at high school and now works with about 20 young participants at any time, often involving them in Sunday Street Feed.

What an honour it is to channel their energy into supporting those in our community who need a hand up right now. Seeing these kids on the precipice of adulthood step up and start to shine is just amazing.
