Award Level:
Silver
Favourite memory of the Award:
My favorite memory of the award has got to be the adventurous journey. The trip to the Namibian / South African border was amazing (although tiring - 14 hours in a bus!). The trip down the river in canoes was awesome, the camping spots had the most amazing views of the sunrise and sunset and the geology was beautiful and very interesting to learn about. Best trip ever!

Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
This has also got to be the adventurous journey. Keeping the canoe from capsizing in the rapids, and from colliding with rocks was very challenging, but I was successful!
Country:
South Africa
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
Yes, I have. I am still doing my physical recreation (karate), and my community service (serving my local church in the children's ministry department).
Our trip for our adventurous journey involved two 14 hour trips from Cape Town, South Africa, to the Namibian border in order to canoe down the Orange River - the border river between South Africa and Namibia. On the return trip, we left at 4am, and we were able to see the sunrise on the road back to South Africa. The sunrise was stunning, and I was able to take a photo of its most glorious moment. Despite the photo being taken over someone's head and leaning out of a window, it still captures the breathtaking beauty of an African sunrise.
