Award Level:
Favourite memory of the Award:
Sailing a tall ship like Captain Jack Sparrow across Lake Ontario for my Gold Adventurous Journey
Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
Continuing my activities during COVID-19, when almost everything shut down and in-person experiences were difficult due to physical distancing. But, I managed to stay in touch with most of my activities and restarted where I left off after the peak of the pandemic!
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
I started many of my activities prior to the award, so I'm more than happy to continue with them after. The tall ship sailing was definitely an eye opener though, and I'm determined to volunteer for the organization each summer in their programs so that other youth could experience that thrill!
Tell us the story behind your photo:
This was taken a few days into the week-long sailing trip for my Gold AJ. We were pulling into Niagara-on-the-Lake quite late in the evening, but the moon shone brightly and guided us towards the docks. I took the photo standing on the bridge leaning over the water with one hand gripping the halyard. I truly felt like I was Captain Jack Sparrow! Some of the crew were in the cabin preparing some food, and the vibe was magical. Looking forward to doing it again!
