Award Level:
Bronze
Favourite memory of the Award:
My favourite memory of the award was during our Qualifying - when we made a campfire and toasted marshmallows on it. My teammate had brought chocolate sauce which we were using to dip the marshmallows in, but then we ran out of marshmallows so she just poured the bottle into her mouth. We also enjoyed a picturesque sunset, perhaps the most breathtaking one I've ever seen.
Age:
14
Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
The biggest challenge was probably adapting to the unfamiliar environment for me. Camping was new to me before I started the award so camping in a beach when my shoes were full of sand was extremely uncomfortable and it was hard for me to keep organised and keep all my belongings safe, dry, and clean. I also forgot my flip-flops but there were prickly things all over the floor in the campsite that kept hurting my feet.
Country:
Malaysia
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
I've continued all three of my activities that I took up! I cycle every week, regularly tutor many students, and I'm still debating a lot because I qualified for the ToC in the World Scholar's Cup!
Tell us the story behind your photo:
This is an ultra-wide shot from when we were hiking through the rice paddy fields on the first day. The excellent lighting and the views were absolutely gorgeous even though they came with Malaysia's signature scorching heat.
