Favourite memory of the Award:
I have a long list of memories that will forever stay with me. One of them which I would like to share is my going for my President't Award Adventurous Journey. I spent time with people from different countries and cultures and became closer to the ones that I didn't interact with in school. As I was selected as a group leader for my group, It was an opportunity which allowed me to listen to amazing ideas from each individual in my group and broaden my knowledge on different topics like cooking, Kenyan cultural meals, the flora and fauna around Taitā area where we highked, first aid and map reading.
Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
The biggest challenge was going for the first adventurous journey. It was my first time and I didn't know how to prepare properly.
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
During the bronze level, I picked painting as a skill I aimed to improve. I wanted to try out and learn new technique in each art style and create art pieces with the theme of 'nature'. By doing the award, I advanced my skills in painting and decided to continue practising and being consistent in order to not lose my progress.
Tell us the story behind your photo:
It was a very warm day, relieved by a pleasant breeze.A photo we took once we reached the highest point of Taitā Hills in Kenya during our President's Award adventurous journey. It captures happy faces of individuals who didn't give up and believed in themselves, pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and supporting each other.
