Tahlia Vessey
Award Level:
Bronze
Favourite memory of the Award:
My favourite memory is going on the Adventurous Journey as when reflecting back on it, I could see how even when I faced challenges, I had an amazing time with others and even though they weren't my closest friends our bond was strengthened through this journey, as we were working together all the time to ensure we had a good time. I also thoroughly enjoyed having some control in how the AJ went in terms of cooking our meals, having the opportunity to read a map and follow a route.
Age:
15
Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
The biggest challenge when doing the award was definitely the Adventurous Journey where I was doing rock climbing for a lot of the time. I was quite nervous at the beginning of it, but by the end I was feeling quite comfortable and enjoying the experience, knowing it pushed my limits.
Country:
Australia
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
Yes, I will still continue with both my skills and physical activity aspect, being netball and a music band and I am really enjoying them at the moment.
Tell us the story behind your photo:
When this photo was taken it really helped me appreciate the world around me and beauty of it. It was one of the last days of my AJ and I was so grateful to be out in the Grampians experiencing something so different to my normal life. I didn't know at the time when I took this photo, but I tested positive for covid near after and this was one of the last photos that I took.
