A part of our route took us along the Colo River, yet we had to cross to the other side at some point. Our camp leader advised us that the only way to cross would be to take off shoes and socks, and role up our pants to wade across. However, since our journey was during winter, the water was extremely cold, and none of us wanted to get our feet wet. We kept walking up and down the bank for an additional hour to find a branch that was sturdy enough for us to walk across. We then all found branches that would support our weight, something that also took a long time, and made our way across the log. It was very slippery, so we had to help each other cross, but in the end we made it without anyone getting wet.
