Bibi Hakim
Award Level:
Gold
Favourite memory of the Award:
After portaging and paddling away to find a suitable campsite, my newly made friends and I made s'mores under a sky full of stars. We woke up to a gorgeous sunrise and soaked up the light while keeping warm by the fire. Our group leader captured this shot as he stood by the camp stove that was boiling hot water.
Age:
24
Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
The biggest challenge I experienced during my Award journey was pushing past my comfort zone and overcoming boundaries. Having never paddled a canoe and being terrified of water, camping for the first time was both mentally and physically challenging. Once I gained a bit of trust in my group and confidence in myself I was able to overcome my fear to at least make a few canoe trips in the water. I found myself later wanting to canoe more in our free time. Still not 100 percent over my fear, but I'm comfortable enough that I enjoy canoeing.
Country:
Canada
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
