This photo was taken in the middle of the day around halfway through the 9-day hiking expedition and we saw HUGE brumbies. Our group of 12 girls and 2 group leaders were hiking across the plains for what seemed like forever, because the terrain was basically the same for a few hours until we saw brumbies in the distance. When we got up to the herd, we had to walk through the shrubs to keep a safe distance from them, but we could still see how big they were! There was a baby brumby in the herd and we also saw the stallion rolling around the grass a few hundred metres away. After we got to camp, we got our food drop which was really fun to sort through and pick what we wanted to eat for the next 5 days. With our packs filled with food, we walked really slowly to Cope Hut, where we met two other schools from Melbourne.
