Award Level:
Silver
Favourite memory of the Award:
My favourite memory of the Award would have to be waking up super early to start hiking by 7am, where we would watch the sun rise on the top of a knoll. We had a clear and unobstructed view of the sky, trees surrounding us, and the water rushing below. This is my favourite memory of my Silver Duke of Ed, as it was one of the most peaceful moments I have ever experienced, I will cherish it forever.
Age:
16
Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
My biggest challenge from completing the Silver Award would have been packing up the tents and all my clothing and food in a way where nothing could get wet. As we camped in the rain, our tents did not get a proper chance to dry, and the tent I carried ended up wetting majority of my clothes. This made it hard to feel comfortable for the rest of my journey.
Country:
Australia
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
Yes, my Physical Recreation is soccer and jogging, and both of these activities I have continued to complete on a regular basis. Additionally, for my Bronze Award, I took up knitting as a skill. I have further continued this activity, and it has become a hobby of mine.
Tell us the story behind your photo:
In this photo, I am camping with my best friend, Charlotte down Colo River. We had been hiking for approximately six hours at that point, and were so excited to start our canoeing journey. In this photo, we had decided to take some rest under the shade of a bridge. Charlotte and I turned up the speaker to play some music, and we were met with cheers by the other groups who were canoeing around us. This experience brought us all closer as a whole, and this is my absolute favourite photo from the entire experience!
