An extraordinary adventure awaits.

ITINERARY

Award in Action Visits

The Award was launched in Kenya in 1966 as The President’s Award – Kenya (PA‑K) and is one of our strongest and most impactful operators, producing more than 500,000 Gold Awardees since its inception and supporting more than 142,000 young people last year alone. PA‑K delivers the Award through schools, universities, youth groups, rehabilitation centres, and community organisations. Our engagement with two schools will give you a first hand insight into the life-changing impact this is having in rural communities.

Maasai Mara

Whilst in the Maasai Mara, you’ll be welcomed into a Maasai ‘Manyatta’— a community of family homes built using ingenious techniques and natural materials. Here, life is defined by a deep connection to the land and livestock. You’ll engage with community members, experience the energy of a traditional dance, and see the skillful artistry of their world-renowned handcrafts.

A group of young people from the local school will join us to share their Award experiences. The school has only recently begun delivering the Award, and you will learn of the early impact it’s having, and how the participants are progressing on their Award journeys.

Naivasha Girl's School

Your next stop in the Great Rift Valley is Naivasha Girls School,  a government school with an Award programme for over 100 pupils. Meet Award Leaders and participants to see first-hand the practical skills they are gaining, from hairdressing and computing to farming.

These are the moments that will stay with you — genuine connections with young people and their communities, and an insight into how the Award is creating opportunities and shaping lives in remote regions.

Maasai Mara Safari Game Drives

Your journey into the Maasai Mara offers two unforgettable days in one of the world’s most extraordinary landscapes. You’ll stay for two nights at Mara Intrepids, a beautiful tented camp overlooking the Talek River — the perfect base from which to explore the vast savannah during the Great Migration.

Across four expertly guided game drives, you’ll witness the Mara at its most vibrant — from the vast migrating herds of wildebeest and zebra to the lions, cheetahs, giraffe and buffalo roaming the open grasslands. Watch for hippos and crocodiles along the riverbanks and a kaleidoscope of birdlife overhead. Evenings will be just as memorable with sunset drinks in the heart of the open savannah and a bush dinner served under the stars.

More than a safari, this immersive experience provides essential context to the environments shaping the lives of local Award participants, enriching your understanding throughout each Award in Action visit.

Compass Project Day

The Compass Project, sponsored by our very own Trustee Mr. Muhoho Kenyatta, removes barriers for participants from rural and under-resourced communities to access The President’s Award – Kenya (PA-K). By providing essential funding and support to schools, the project ensures that opportunity is not limited by geography or resources.

Held annually, Compass Project Day is a gathering that brings together hundreds of young people with business and community leaders to celebrate achievement, progress, and the Award in Action. During the event, you will join small discussion groups to hear first-hand about the journeys and experiences shaping these young lives and, if you wish, share insights from your own path. These groups will then transition to the marquee for an inspiring panel conversation, a celebratory Award presentation, and lunch.

This day showcases the Award’s impact at scale, offering a powerful look at how your support drives sustained growth and long-term change across Kenya.
