The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation’s statement on the situation in Ukraine
Around the world Award participants are engaged in efforts to build better, more sustainable and peaceful communities. Today, young people face challenges and crises not of their making. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award remains committed to unlocking a better future with and for young people and future generations.
Today, we are acutely aware that many young people are living with the dangers of conflict and war – and that their present and futures are compromised as a consequence. This awareness is made particularly stark at this moment for many of us by the situation in Ukraine – and our thoughts and sympathy are with the citizens of that country at this critical juncture.
We remain committed to working collectively with other international youth-led and youth-focused organizations to help young people to find opportunities for peacebuilding, social action and civic engagement, and to develop the skills they need to lead and mobilize in the face of emerging threats and challenges.
