GRACE KIMONE
Award Level:
Silver
Favourite memory of the Award:
The moment I joined the Award and went for my first hike. It was quite a challenge as we went out at a quite challenging terrain and it was raining and slippery hence people kept on falling. I also became the secretary of the Award at our unit when I was still in Bronze as I attended all meetings and activities diligently
Age:
19
Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
Convincing my parents as they are quite advanced in age and did not see the importance of it but I eventually made it through. Also I had been having chest/heart issues but with time I managed all adventures with less ease as compared to the first one
Country:
KENYA
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
Yes,I sing back at our home church and also the school choir which has had an opportunity to perform at great events in Nakuru Kenya.. We had earlier been informed that the terrain would be generally fair but to our shock most part of this expedition was hilly. An expedition requires mental preparation for the journey ahead but this one we were not that prepared. Hence it was quite challenging but the top of it all it was a success. At some point, my leg was aching and also my head was feeling like racing but I had come so far to quit hence I geared on till the end.
