GRACE KIMONE
Award Level:
Silver
Favourite memory of the Award:
My first time I attended the practice journey ,it was raining. Being my first hike I could not quit as it was part of what I had really desired. The terrain was a bit stiff and slippery but that is what built my momentum such that anytime I am going out on any adventure ,,I remember that I endured this one and I do not quit at all.
Age:
19
Biggest challenge from doing the Award:
My biggest challenge was convincing my parents because they are quit old and did not really see that importance of it but at the end, after much struggle, they agreed when we attended the golf awardees ceremony and my neighbors saw me in the television
Country:
KENYA
Have you continued any of your Award activities? If so, what:
Yes,on my clean up activity that I had chosen in Bronze. Till date I still attend the cleanup in Nakuru whenever a chance arises even though I am not having it as an activity in my silver. Also, I take time to have hiking adventures outside the award plans. I have been fighting depression and personalised anxiety disorder meaning I could not share what was going on openly with very close people. Hence,I found myself in love with nature conversation and this was through my bronze community service and it has helped me fight depression quite successful as it is something I love and keeps my mind occupied. This photos are inspiring since in the process I made new friends, learnt to manage my depression and more so conservation of the environment for the safety of our wild animals and human beings.
